Why is it that no matter how long you stay in the sun or sun bed and how deeply you get tanned, you just can't seem to get that bronzed glow you see on all the celebs? That's because that "glow" is more tanning bronzer magic than natural highlight.
Just as the tan you get from a tanning bed has two phases to help get you the perfect color, self tanning lotions include two products that combine to give you your bronzed glow. Tanning bronzers and a DHA formula are usually the two main components of indoor tanning lotions and sprays. The DHA reacts with your skin to actually tint it brown while the tanning bronzer acts as a skin blush, and provides a deep and sun-kissed look. Once applied, the DHA works quickly while the tanning bronzer should be allowed to dry for several hours.
Although many self tanner results last a few days, bronzers are much less permanent. Unlike the DHA ingredient, tanning bronzers rub off much more quickly onto clothes and in the shower. If you want the maximum bronzing effect, let your lotion dry for 4 hours, then pat with a dry towel to remove any excess. This should allow you to get into your clothes without having much rub off, if any at all, while keeping your sparkling glow. If you decide to go for this method, make sure that you purchase a product with minimal scent and that you're heading somewhere outdoors. Smelling like sun tan lotion may be okay when your hanging out but is totally inappropriate for the work place.
Tanning bronzers usually look best and most natural on areas such as your legs and arms. If you want to tan your face, a bronzed look will be better achieved with makeup.
