Tanning has become serious business and whether you opt for an at home or a salon tan, there are tanning supplies you need to make sure you always have on hand.
Supply 1. Loofah
A loofah or some sort of exfoliating product will help make the surface of your skin smooth and even. This is important anytime you apply an indoor tanner because the DHA coloring will stick to the outermost, dead layer of your skin. If you haven't exfoliated, you run the risk of blotching and a general unevenness in your tan.
Supply 2. Moisturizer
Hydrated skin is a key aspect of tanning quickly and effectively. Make sure to be moisturizing regularly at least one week before your tanning session. DO NOT apply moisturizer on the day of your tan as the oils and fragrances in your lotion may prevent your tan from sticking. Keep moisturizing after your tan to increase tan longevity and prevent cracking.
Supply 3. Goggles
If you're tanning in a bed or getting sprayed, goggles and nose plugs are absolutely essential. Protecting your eyes from UV light, even if you close them, inside a tanning booth should be required by your tanning salon. They should also supply you with special goggles. If they don't, consider using another salon or, if you tan regularly, consider purchasing your own set. This can help you make sure that the fit is perfect every time. A different type of goggle, as well as ear and nose plugs, are recommended for use with spray tans. You don't want the DHA coming into contact with your mucus membranes. Also keep a hair cover handy for your spray tan sessions, just in case.
Supply 4. Sunscreen
Many people think that just because a fake tan gives them great color, that it also protects them from the sun. Although DHA colors your skin, it does absolutely nothing to help your skin protect itself from UV rays. Make sure you always wear sunscreen when yo go outdoors.
Supply 5. Dark, loose clothing
It's smart to keep a dark pair of pants and shirt set aside especially for your tanning sessions. Although DHA dries quickly, the bronzers used in self tanners to give your body an instant glow can take up to 4 hours to dry and usually rub off on the clothing you put on right after your session.
Use this list of tanning supplies to make sure you're prepared for your sessions, and your tanning experience should be quick and without problems.
